The Ultimate Guide To Writing Your Book Masterclass
My Story
Let’s say, you been laid off because your company decided to downsize, or maybe your services are no longer needed.
You have piles of bills that need to be paid and suddenly you find yourself without a job. What happens when the bottom falls out?
I’m talking from experience. There is no job that is secure. Just when you think you are living your best life the rug gets pulled from under you.
I was working at the new home builder in the accounting office. This was back in 2005. It was a real good job with bonuses every quarter. The money allowed me to pay all my bills and have extra.
My family really enjoyed all the perks I received from the corporation. I remember this one day in October. It was around 2:30 in the afternoon and about 20 of us were individually called to the manager’s office. This is when we found out that that was our last day. At that point I had been there 4 years and a few months. Had to have been there 5 years to be vested.
These were orders from the home office, because the entire company was shutting down. It was in stages, and since we were the last hired, we got the first ax. Eventually the company laid off over 300 people from that one warehouse.
I had always been disciplined in paying my bills on time and my credit cards off and putting extra monies on the side for vacations and such. Now without that extra monies coming in we had to tighten up. I sent out resumes at the same time as I applied for unemployment. This went on for weeks and still no employment.
I am not used to my bills being late, so it would bother me when I had to make arrangements to pay my bills. This set me into a deep depression. I would send out my resumes in the morning and cry all afternoon, because I did not receive a call back. Not even the employment agency had anything for me.
Finally, after weeks just before my unemployment ran out the employment agency had lined up an assignment for me at a bank working in the mortgage department. I worked there for 7 months and here comes the message again, “We are closing this branch and merging with another company therefore, we are going to be laying off people.” This was devastating. I can’t begin to tell you how I felt.
This was during the time of the mortgage crisis that affected the entire country, especially residents in FL, CA, Arizona, NV and Michigan. I could not believe this. This was a bad emotional roller coaster for me. I could not go through this again. I had to pray hard. I never wanted to face this again, but now here I was looking down the same road. I decided enough was enough.
Have you ever come to a point in your life where you have to make a change? This was devastating. I thought, “How can I wind up in this situation again?” Then a thought came to my mind telling me to look at the treasures I had inside.”
Here I was without a job again, through no fault of my own. Being unemployed and having to go back on unemployment, if I didn’t get a job right away. I had to pay my bills, because it would rattle my nerve.
You all, already know that unemployment benefits are not enough to cover your bills and the instability of the market was intense.
I had toyed around with writing before. I had written training materials and wrote, produced and directed two plays that were major successes, but I never thought that I could make an ample amount of money from them because I had viewed writing as a hobby.
During the time of searching for a job I started writing again. This time I put forth more effort to sell my books and the rest is history.
The message here is you have something of value that others need to know about. You have a story to tell or experience to share that will give your readers hope and information they are desperately searching for.
Through unfortunate circumstances my life was being re-directed.
It brings me great joy to be able to use my resources to teach aspiring authors, who may be in a rough financial situation how to write their story using the proper guidelines to reach their ideal audience and generate income for their household.
